How we work
Editorial standards
Clear arguments. Traceable evidence. Responsibility for the published word.
Evidence and interpretation
Factual claims should be supported by credible sources, with quotations and statistics checked in context. Essays should distinguish what the evidence establishes, what remains uncertain and what the author argues.
Intellectual independence
We apply consistent standards across parties and institutions. Serious disagreement is welcome; personal disparagement, harassment and unsupported or defamatory allegations are not.
Authorship and AI assistance
Authors remain responsible for accuracy, sources, originality and publication rights. Material AI assistance should be disclosed to the editor. Our acceptance of AI assistance does not establish how any particular essay was written.
Editorial consideration
Submissions are reviewed privately. Editorial discussion, requested revisions or acknowledgment of a submission do not amount to acceptance. Publication terms are agreed before publication.
Corrections
Material errors should be corrected clearly, with a dated note explaining the change. A correction should preserve the reader’s ability to understand what changed and why.
